SOUTHAMPTON youngsters can look forward to a revamped play area.

The Daisy Dip in Swaythling will be transformed into a castle-themed play area.

It will be circled by a moat of wild-flowers and accessed via bridges.

The renovations will create a new and improved space for families to spend time together outside and be active, according to the city council.

Daily Echo:

The equipment for the site in Laburnum Road was chosen by the Friends of Daisy Dip following a consultation in March with work due to be finished in November.

A statement from the Friends of Daisy Dip Group said: “We're very excited to see the work for the new play area. Together with money raised and grants secured by Friends of Daisy Dip, it’s going to make a huge difference to our local community and we're proud to have helped make it possible.”

Cllr Lorna Fielker, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, added: “Daisy Dip is a great example of the commitment we are making to improve play areas and green spaces across the city and these outdoor spaces have many health and wellbeing benefits for children and adults alike.

Daily Echo:

"Over the years, Daisy Dip has been susceptible to flooding, but we’ve been working closely with the Friends Group and local community, to ensure that the new designs will help to alleviate these issues, making this much-loved play area somewhere people can enjoy all year round."
