A SANDOWN woman has been banned from driving for 26 months after she admitted drinking before getting behind the wheel.

Tanya Scarlett Harding, 48, of Victoria Road, had previously admitted drink driving on June 12, when she appeared in front of Island magistrates.

They adjourned her sentencing date and she appeared again on Monday to hear what action they would take.

As well as the driving ban, Harding was given a 12-month community order to include 15 rehabilitation days.

She must also pay a £40 fine, £95 surcharge and £85 costs.

The court previously heard Harding was arrested when she pulled up behind police as they attended an incident at her former partner's home, and they smelt alcohol on her.

She had an alcohol reading of 101, when the legal limit is 35.

Barry Arnett, defending Harding, said she had been through a lot. Her 16 year marriage had fallen apart when her husband moved in with a new woman.

On the day in question, Harding was waiting for him to bring over their daughter's belongings, but instead he called her to say he had dumped it all on his doorstep, and if she wanted it, she would have to 'come and get it'.

It was when she pulled up at the property, she found herself parked up behind the police.
