POLICE are appealing for information from Abbotswood residents after anti-social behaviour, involving motorbikes, was reported at the weekend.

Hampshire police received seven reports about the anti-social behaviour on early Saturday morning, with some residents complaining they heard the noisy motorbikes in Braishfield Road, Foster Way and Tate Close.

Now, police officers are warning the offenders they will seize their vehicles if this anti-social behaviour continues, adding they are stepping up their patrols in the area in a bid to protect the community.

Inspector Chris Taylor, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes and mopeds can have a real impact on a community, and that’s why we have made it a priority for our patrols.

“We have also requested support from our Road Policing Unit colleagues.

"We have the powers to warn drivers and then seize vehicles if such behaviour continues."

He added: "What we need is information from residents. We need to know who is riding these motorbikes, the registration numbers of the vehicles and where they are being kept.

"We also would welcome any dash cam footage, mobile phone video or photos of motorbikes being ridden illegally and anti-socially. However, please don’t put yourself at risk in doing so.

“Please call 101, report online via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously. In an emergency, dial 999.”

Mayor of Romsey, Cllr Janet Burnage, also criticised the motorcyclists for keeping residents awake at night with their vehicles.

She said: "It's strange we are getting these people riding motorbikes and mopeds, who seem to take great pleasure in disturbing people late at night and in the early hours of the morning.

"I would urge people to report this on 101, because the police do make a record of this and they are able to use this information to see where the areas of trouble are."
