Fareham residents can now vote for their favourite garden as community challenge takes place virtually.

Voting is now open for ‘Fareham in Bloom’ competition as residents display their beautiful gardens and creations.

100 green fingered residents have submitted entries of their garden or outdoor space and will be in with a chance of winning prizes from St Margaret’s Nurseries and Fareham Shopping Centre.

You can now vote for your favourite garden or outdoor space.

Fareham in Bloom has taken place for 25 years but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the community gardening challenge has been unable to take place.

Instead, the competition will now take place online with over 100 gardens or outdoor spaces competing in six different categories: best garden, grow your own, commercial, something small, community floral display and kid’s corner.

Executive Member for Streetscene, Cllr Simon Martin said: “The pandemic has meant that many people had the chance to get out in their gardens and enjoy the outdoors.

“We’ve had some fantastic entries submitted for our first ever Virtual Fareham in Bloom competition showing off the hard work and passion people have put into their gardens.

“I would encourage residents to take a look at the images and vote for their favourite.”

Voting will take place on Fareham Council’s Facebook page where people can ‘like’ their favourite photo for each category. Entries can also be seen on the council’s website and vote by emailing inbloom@fareham.gov.uk. There will be a public vote and a judge’s vote for each category.

Voting opened on Monday August 24 and closes September 21. Winners will be announced on October 5.
