COMMUTERS are facing delays after a tree suddenly fell onto a railway line.
The "precarious" tree which fell between the Romsey and Redbridge line on South Western Railway means trains are now running at a reduced speed.
It comes as Storm Francis hits Hampshire, with a warning of danger to life and travel disruption.
Train operators have announced that services running between the line, which goes through Test Valley, are expected to be delayed until 12pm today, while they investigate.
Network Rail Wessex wrote on social media: "It's windy out there today with Storm Francis, and we've already had some trees down - like this one near Romsey on the Test Valley line."
South Western Railway have posted the following statement on their website: "We have been informed that there is a precarious tree near the line between Redbridge and Romsey. This means that trains will run as at a reduced speed towards Romsey whilst we investigate.
"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
