A WHITCHURCH company is expanding their production of UV air disinfection units which are helping businesses stay safer from Covid-19.

Jenton International, which is based in the Ardglen Industrial Estate, has been making UV systems since the 1980s, and with businesses starting to return to the office, they say they have seen a surge in demand.

Products made by Jenton include include wall mounted air disinfection units that circulate air in a room to disinfect it in the process, and ceiling tile replacement units for larger areas or open plan offices. Air is drawn in to systems, passed over powerful UV lamps and then blown back into the room.

Managing director of Jenton, Richard Little, said: “UVC technology is playing its part alongside masks and better cleaning regimes to allow businesses to get back as close to ‘normal’ as is possible whilst Covid-19 is still active.

“Viruses are very easy to disinfect with UVC and we are applying our long term expertise in disinfection in the food industry to this new situation. We have customers now as varied as hair salons, hot yoga studios, dentists and offices – all areas where people have to be in the same room at the same time to carry out their day to day business.” Jenton is also offering to provide consultation to help companies to decide if UV is appropriate for them.

“UV should not be exposed to people” Mr Little added.

“It can damage exposed skin and it’s vital that properly engineered systems are used.

"There are some items available from the Far East that are more dangerous to people than they are to the virus. It’s our job to make sure it’s applied safely and effectively”.

The business is now rearranging it’s production area in Whitchurch to allow for increased and faster production.
