SEVERAL bars and venues across Bolton have had to shut in recent days due to positive coronavirus tests.

Some have since reopened, while others are undergoing deep cleans and thoroughly sanitising their venues.

The Alma Inn has said that it has closed until further notice after a customer tested positive for the virus.

Announcing the news on Facebook, the venue said that staff had been tested and a deep clean of the bar had taken place.

They said: "We are closed until further notice due to a customer being tested positive for COVID-19.

"We are so sorry, but we feel this is the best thing to do until we have done a deep clean and staff have been tested

"It sucks that this has come into effect, we will be back very shortly and hope you guys understand."

The Balmoral in Bradshawgate shut briefly, although is now back open.

Earlier this week, they said: "Guys there is rumours going round about us shutting due to COVID

"This rumour is true. We have had to shut to get the place deep cleaned and sanitised.

"We will be back open tomorrow. We had to put your safety first and prevent the spread. That is how we keep us all safe.

"So if you're having COVID symptoms please stay at home for 10-14 days."

A bar in Astley Bridge had to be temporarily after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The Bank Top Brewery Tap on Belmont Road announced that it had shut for a deep clean, although it has now since reopened.

The bar said everyone who came in contact with the person with covid-19 have been notified.

Astley Bridge Conservative Club shut several days ago with "immediate effect" after a member of staff was confirmed to have had covid-19.

The Moss Bank club said it would reopen once the premises had been sanitised and deep cleaned.

The Venue, in Churchgate, said that they would be closed for at least this weekend and would be informing customers of their re-opening plans.

The popular venue, which provides late night entertainment and live music, announced the decision on their Facebook page.

They said: "We will be closed this weekend as one of our team has tested positive for Covid 19. They are OK.

"Since re-opening we have aimed to provide the safest environment for our staff and customers.

"As a socially responsible business we believe is the right decision.

"We will keep you informed on our re-opening plans.

"Thank you for your ongoing support."

The York pub has also closed its doors after a customer returned a positive test.

They said: "So as you are aware the pub is closed. To clear things up a bit it wasn't a customer at this pub that tested positive it was another one.

"However the staff have been between pubs and as a precaution all staff are being tested before we reopen."
