CONCERNS have been raised over "ridiculous" plans to build 350 new homes in Fareham.

The scheme would involve building 350 new homes in Down End Rd. by Miller Homes

Ltd.

If approved, previous buildings on the land to the east of Down End Road could be destroyed to create up to 350 dwellings.

In the plans, vehicle access with footways and cycle paths could be created as wells as a children’s play area and public open space.

Residents have raised concerns about noise and traffic.

Anne Anson said: “This is absolutely ridiculous. Downend road gets terribly congested now and has a weight limit.

“The bridge is very narrow and could not cope with all extra traffic that would ensue.”

The application was previously been turned down April 2019 due to safety concerns about the

site.

Richard Gfrerer said: Nothing has changed, the infrastructure is still not there, the roads, schools, doctors etc cannot cope with the new builds in this area.

“Stop just thinking of the money that some people will make and [start thinking of the] wellbeing of the people that live in the area.”

A decision on the plan is set to be made by November 16.

A spokesperson for Miller Homes in the south said: “We’re passionate about enhancing communities and feedback we receive is taken on-board and used to inform our proposals.

“Careful work has been carried out in conjunction with Fareham Borough Council and Hampshire County Council on a full road safety and traffic impact assessment of the Downend Road site in Fareham. This has been submitted as part of the planning application, which is currently under consideration by the local council.

“The development would also be subject to a Section 106 funding agreement, which would see us making a substantial financial contribution to facilities and infrastructure in the area.”
