A FURTHER 18 people tested positive for coronavirus across Hampshire in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Thursday, latest figures have confirmed.

Data released by the government shows there were no new cases in Southampton or East Hampshire, but two in Eastleigh.

Over the course of the pandemic, 472 people have tested positive for the virus, giving a rate of 353.3 per 100,000 people.

In the New Forest, six people tested positive in the last 24 hours, taking the area’s total to 545 and giving a rate of 302.6 per 100,000.

There were no new cases in Winchester, but two each in Fareham and Gosport.

In Portsmouth, six people tested positive.

The latest figures on the death toll due to the virus shows one person died in hospitals in England on September 9, meaning the total for hospitals is 29,639.
