JUST one new case of coronavirus has been recorded in the city.

In the Southampton City Council area, one case was recorded in the 24 hours from 4pm on Monday to 4pm today, the latest Government data reveals.

This means that since the start of the pandemic, there has been 1,060 cases in the Southampton council area.

The current rate of infection for the city is 419.8 per 100,000.

Data for the Hampshire County Council region has not yet been released by the Government.

The most recent data, recorded in the 24 hours from 4pm on Sunday to 4pm yesterday, revealed 12 new cases were recorded in the region.

In total this meant the total cases stood at 5,627 in the Hampshire authority area, with the rate of infection at 408.5 per 100,000.

The ‘rule of six’ was implemented from yesterday, meaning people can only socialise in groups of up to six by law.
