OUR government was months too late preparing for Covid19.

We didn’t introduce quarantine at our airports; there wasn’t enough PPE (and some of it was out of date); there wasn’t enough testing; there wasn’t tracing; and care home residents were badly let down.

And now, after warning us about a second wave in the Autumn, our government is unprepared once more.

There just aren’t enough Covid19 tests. People are being told there aren’t any slots, or are having to travel hours to get tested.

And the Sunday Times has revealed the UK is having to send swabs to Germany and Italy to be processed.

To ensure any second wave isn’t as deadly as the first, the government must act now on testing. Covid tests are a vital part of the fight against the virus.

Southampton’s residents must have ready access to local testing.
