A housebuilder company who has donated more than £300,000 to charities that support the elderly, is now opening funding to all groups.

Community Champions helps to fund community village halls, sports clubs and food banks.

It was launched by Persimmon Homes South Coast in 2015 across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the company donated more £320,000 to 320 different charities who support the over-70s in most need.

Now the housing company is reopening the scheme for all community groups.

Managing director Matt Paine said: "It has been heart-warming to see how people have united and rallied together to help the most vulnerable people in our society

“We have always believed in supporting the communities where we build, especially grassroots activities, and we look forward to seeing thousands more applications from a wide cross section of groups."
