A MOTORIST has been fined hundreds of pounds after being caught speeding through the roadworks on the M27.

Gary William Gosnell was captured driving a Toyota eastbound at 81 miles an hour between junctions eight and nine at Swanwick.

There is currently a temporary 50 mile an hour limit in place while roadworks are on going to turn the carriageway into a smart motorway.

Gosnell admitted speeding and was fined £600 when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court.

The 33-year-old, of Blackberry Lane, Selsey, was also ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

His licence was endorsed with five points.
