A MOTORCYCLIST has been rushed to hospital following a city centre crash.
The male rider was rushed to hospital following a crash with a van in Commercial Road at around 4.40pm on Thursday.
Paramedics raced to the scene and a roadblock was put in place.
The route has since reopened.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 16.37pm yesterday with the caller reporting a collision between a van and a motorcyclist on Commercial Road.
"We sent an ambulance to the scene and the crew assessed the rider as fortunately not having suffered any obvious major injuries, but was taken to University Hospital Southampton for further assessment and treatment on a number of minor injuries"
A police spokesperson added: "We were called just before 4.40pm to a report of a collision involving a van and a motorcycle in Commercial Road. Officers are in attendance."
