THE idea of jet setting to the Alps may be a daunting one in the current climate, but that doesn't mean we need to miss out on skiing.
Alpine Snowsports Southampton are open at the weekends and have been helping people have fun on the dry slopes for years.
The Daily Echo looks back at pictures of people enjoying themselves while skiing on the dry mat.
One of the images from January 1979 shows ski instructors Lee Rudman and Keith Woodhouse experiencing real snow on the slopes after plenty of the white stuff had fallen.
Another picture shows improvements being carried out on the slope - taken the same year it clinched first place in the ski slope of the year competition. Most of the other images show a snippet of the fun had throughout the years at the venue.
