PLANNING chiefs have rejected proposals for a building that would have been used to restore veteran cars.

The Lymington-based New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) has refused to support an application relating to Roys Copse at Dibden.

Permission was sought to replace two existing buildings with a garage and workshop.

A report to NPA members said the application stated that the proposed development would accommodate the applicant's hobby of restoring veteran cars.

Referring to one of the authority's planning policies it added: "One of the main objectives of the policy is to ensure outbuildings, where appropriately sited, would support home working in the interests of reducing the need to travel.

"In the case of this proposal the site does not lie within the curtilage of a dwelling.

"Furthermore there is no established residential use of the land and the outbuilding would not serve any of the dwellings in Roys Copse.

"The applicant does not reside within Roys Copse and would evidently need to travel to and from the site."
