THE annual Ringwood bonfire and fireworks display has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It was due to take place at Carvers recreation ground on Sunday November 1.

A spokesman for Ringwood Town Council said: "This year's fireworks and bonfire event will regretfully not take place.

"The organisers felt that it would be too difficult to achieve the social distancing requirements at such a large scale event along with all the precautions that would be needed to ensure the event was compliant with Government Guidelines for COVID-19.

"We very much hope to be back in 2021."

The display is one of the main events in Ringwood's social calendar.

Ringwood Carnival, which had been due to take place on Sunday September 19, was cancelled for only the second time in 100 years due to the pandemic.
