POLICE have received a report of a rogue trader.
Officers said he advised one lady her roof needed 'urgent repair'.
The trader has been described as white, aged 20-30 and on one occasion he wore a 'builders hat'.
Residents of the Shirley, Millbrook and Redbridge areas have been alerted.
Police have asked them to be extra vigilant and 'report any suspicious persons offering to carry out work'.
A police spokesperson said: "Please keep in touch with elderly and/or vulnerable relatives, friends, and neighbours to remind them not to buy products or services from persons knocking the door.
"Remind them to ‘LOCK, STOP, CHAIN AND CHECK’ if no-one is expected do not answer the door.
"If in any doubt keep them out."
