AN inquiry is due to take place to consider the creation of 148 new houses.

The houses were originally proposed in a planning application last year for the development of the residential buildings at GE Aviation, Hamble Lane.

The application detailed how new vehicle access would be available to Hamble Lane, with sports facilities and car parks to be built, as well as the demolition of a Grade 2 listed building.

Bursledon, Hamble-Le-Rice and Hound Local Area Committee refused planning permission on December 19, 2019 and the council refused outline planning for the location on January 16, 2020.

A planning inquiry is now due to take place after the council received confirmation that an appeal has been lodged against the decision.

The inquiry will happen on November 10, 2020 and will be a digital event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
