A fly-tipper has been fined more than £3500 after dumping glass in Gosport.
Adrian Ward, 55, from Cochrane Close in Gosport pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court to fly-tipping glass at Wingate Road Industrial Estate.
A Gosport Borough Council CCTV camera picked up Ward dumping the glass from a truck in September last year. The number plate was traced and council officers tracked him down.
He was fined £2,500, told to pay costs of £820 and a victim surcharge of £181.
Chairman of the council's community board, Cllr Philip Raffaelli said: “We use CCTV to deter people from committing these crimes and will not hesitate to prosecute any offenders we identify.
“The fine in this case shows the court takes fly tipping as seriously as we do. I hope it will make others think twice before disposing of waste illegally.”
