A THEATRE is examining how engaging with art can improve mental health.
The Point Eastleigh is speaking to residents of the borough about the art form they like to spend time doing and how it improves their wellbeing.
This is the next stage of the theatres Inspiring Minds project which began during lockdown.
Participants will be interviewed, photographed or filmed wherever they create and the results will be shared to reach out to others about the benefits of arts activities.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Councillor Tonia Craig, welcomes the scheme. She said: "The Coronavirus crisis has had an impact on the mental health of large numbers of people.
"Taking part in artistic activity can have huge benefits for people experiencing issues like anxiety and depression and The Point is providing an excellent opportunity for residents to unlock their creativity and share their work in a virtual community."
The project offers a creative platform for individuals to express their feelings and thoughts artistically.
The Inspiring Minds online gallery, which can be found on Instagram, currently has 29 contributed pieces.
