AN offender with a knife brought terror to a Southampton park.
The person threatened youngsters with the blade yesterday afternoon.
Police rushed to Mansell Park, in Millbrook, after members of the public raised the alarm.
Today they praised the public who they say "stopped somebody from getting badly hurt or worse".
Police say they identified the person with the knife and have seized the weapon.
Writing on social media Southampton Cops posted: "Today Shirley police recovered a knife that had been used to threaten young people.
"The offender was identified and located, they were also a young person."
Officers said the person would be dealt with "appropriately", adding: "A big thank you to those that phoned in today and stopped somebody from getting badly hurt or worse.
"If you know of somebody carrying a knife, speak up, you could save a life."
