POOLE coastguards were called three times in less than an hour after a tug caught fire and two people needed assistance.
They were alerted at 11.43pm last night to the fire at Sydenhams near Poole bridge.
Coastguards from Poole and Southbourne provided safety cover in the channel.
Teams were also called to an incident near Poole bridge at 11.57pm. On arrival they were told a person had been taken to hospital by ambulance.
At 00.39am they were called to North Haven where they located a casualty requiring assistance.
The team walked the person to a safe location and waited until police arrived. The person was then cared for by an ambulance crew.
