A MERCEDES driver was stopped for tailgating after he targeted an unmarked police car.
Officers from the Boscombe Neighbourhood Policing Team became aware of a car behind them in Christchurch Road, Boscombe last night.
A spokesman said: "On the way along Christchurch Road a Mercedes-Benz caught up behind neighbourhood officers and started tailgating to encourage them to increase speed.
"Unknowingly to the driver the car he was tailgating was a unmarked police car. Once the vehicle was stopped and to the driver's surprise we had a discussion about the highway code and safe distancing while driving."
Now officers have urged drivers to remind themselves of stopping distances by referring to the highway code.
