AN area of Bournemouth identified as a coronavirus ‘hotspot’ has seen cases fall by more than half, according to the latest data.
An interactive map, which uses official statistics from Public Health England, shows East Cliff has seen a 60.7 per cent drop in the number of confirmed infections.
Latest data based on the seven–day rolling rate of new cases by specimen for the week ending October 17, shows 24 cases were recorded with a rolling rate of 186.6. This is down from 61 the previous week.
Meanwhile, Central Bournemouth has seen a 29 per cent drop in cases from 80 to 52. It has a rolling rate of 400.3.
In the map, people can search via postcode to see the situation in their area.
The country is split up by Middle Super Output Area (MSOA), which are small areas with an average population of 7,200.
Neighbouring areas Talbot and Branksome Woods have also seen a decrease in cases from 27 to 16 in the last seven days.
Westcliff has 11 cases after recording eight new positive results.
Southbourne West has also seen an increase in the number of cases up by nine new infections from 13 the previous week with a rolling rate of 254.2.
Elsewhere in Bournemouth, Kinson East has eight cases, Northbourne has eight, Charminster has 19, Moordown has 10 and Winton has 22.
East Howe and Ensbury Park have 11 and West Howe has eight cases.
East Southbourne and Hengistbury Head has seen a rise of five new cases to 13.
Boscombe West has 12 cases, Boscombe East has 14, Springbourne and Queen's Park has 10 and Littledown has 11.
Broadstone has seen a jump of 14 new cases to 19 overall and Merley has four new cases taking the total to 12. Corfe Mullen has 12 cases.
Christchurch has seen a 50 per cent fall to seven cases, ‘Burton and Airport’ has five cases, which is up by two, and St Leonards has five cases.
In Poole, Branksome Park, Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks have nine cases, Branksome West has 11, Branksome East has eight, Penn Hill has 20 after a rise of nine new cases, Parkstone has 12 and Poole Town has 13.
Hamworthy West has 12, Canford Heath East has nine and Canford Heath West has seven.
In Purbeck, Swanage has seven new cases bringing the total to 15, with 12 new positive tests in the Wareham, Sanford and Holton Heath area bringing the latest figure to 15.
Meanwhile, in East Dorset, Parley and Hampreston has 11 new cases with 19 overall and West Verwood has five new cases bringing the total to eight. Ferndown has seen its cases rise from two to eight.
In an update on Thursday, Public Health Dorset said the county was in a “reasonable place” with the number of infections “starting to settle down”.
Dorset remains in the ‘medium’ Tier 1 category of coronavirus restrictions which means residents should follow the ‘rule of six’ and a 10pm curfew for restaurants, bars and pubs.
