TWO SCHOOLBOYS appeared at court today accused of stabbing a 56-year-old Southampton man.
Both are aged just 14, one has been charged with attempted murder while the other has been charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place.
Neither of the teens - who appeared before Southampton Youth Court - can be named for legal reasons.
Their victim was said to be too ill to make a statement and remains in a serious but not life-threatening condition at Southampton General Hospital.
The alleged attack took place in Barnfield Road in Weston in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The boy charged with attempted murder is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on November 6 and was remanded in custody.
The other boy, who pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a bladed article, will appear again at Southampton Youth Court on November 30.
He too was remanded in custody.
Both boys' parents attended court.
The mother of the second boy cried during his hearing when District Judge Peter Greenfield addressed her son.
