GANGS of youths caused havoc across parts of Southampton this weekend causing large amounts of criminal damage.

Hampshire Police have announced that they are "aware" of a number of incidents of Halloween, October 31, involving large groups of youths causing damage across the west of the city.

The Daily Echo understands that damage was caused to cars and homes in the area.

Daily Echo:

Officers from Southampton's Response & Patrol team were in the area on Saturday night.

During the course of their patrols they issued a community resolution to a 17-year old from Southampton who was found to be in possession of a catapult.

They also gave another community resolution to a 15-year old, also from Southampton, who provided false details.

The force said that it had picked up investigations and is making efforts to identify anyone involved in Saturday night's incidents.

Now, they are appealing to the public for help in providing CCTV or dashcam footage.

In a post on the Southampton Cops Facebook page, a spokesperson said: "Do you have any dashcam footage or CCTV of any persons involved in anti-social behaviour last night?

"Did you witness any incidents and recognise any persons involved?

"If so, please do get in touch with us by visiting our website or call 101 quoting reference number 44200423060.

"Alternatively, you can make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers.

"Did you know that you can now register you CCTV cameras with to help us fight crime? You can email NICEDEMSSUPPORT@hampshire.pnn.police.uk and you will be sent a link to register your device.
