A MAN has appeared in court accused of sexually abusing and raping a young girl and asking her how she lost her virginity.

Stephen Boyt was charged with sexually abusing a young girl over the course of a more than a decade, a court heard.

He faces nine charges which include raping his victim and a string of sexual assaults - he denies all accusations.

The 69-year-old of Beech Crescent, Hythe appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Monday where he stands trial.

The alleged campaign of historical abuse is said to have taken place across Netley View, Calshot and Fawley during the 80s and 90s.

Video footage played to members of a jury showed his alleged victim sobbing and clutching a tissue during a police interview.

After raping her, he is said to have asked how she lost her virginity.

Struggling to compose herself and answer questions, she said how he told her no one would believe her claims he had abused her.

The woman finally reported the abuse to police in August 2018 after suffering a breakdown.

During the interview, she told how Boyt demanded oral sex, and then on other occasions touched her sexually.

She said: “I just want to go away and cry.

“I just want to be on my own.

“Take me away, anywhere but here.”

She described Boyt as medium build, with a ponytail and said he would wear a Harley Davidson t-shirt.

Boyt was spoken to by police on November 14, 2018, and denied the accusations.

Prosecution barrister, David Richards told the court how Boyt claimed the victim wanted to be the centre of attention and that “someone was putting her up to it”.

The trial continues.
