Hampshire County Council has encouraged bookworms to take advantage of libraries' digital and online booking services while in-person browsing is on hold during the new national lockdown.

Hampshire residents can now request and reserve items online and use the Click and Collect system to pick up books from their local library.

The collection service can be arranged online or by calling 01962 454747.

Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage, Seán Woodward, said: "Libraries have an important role to play in supporting young and old alike through the lockdown.

"In the interest of everyone’s safety, which remains our top priority...we encourage customers to look through our digital library and borrow and return digital items from the comfort of their homes, if they can."

Library fines for overdue loans have been temporarily frozen.
