RESIDENTS have been warned to lock sheds and garages after a recent spate of burglaries.

On Sunday police were called to reports of a burglary at an address on Castle Lane, Chandler's Ford.

The incident is said to have taken place some time between 12am and 8am.

Two road bikes were stolen from a garden shed.

The vehicles are described as: a black Pinnacle Laterite women’s road bike with a bell on the handlebars and a Bianchi Via Nirone 7 road bike.

Police also dealt with a similar report of a burglary at another property on Castle Lane which had occurred around the same time.

It was reported that nothing had been stolen.

Officers have now offered advice to residents in the area to help them protect their belongings.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We want to remind residents about specific crime prevention advice they can use to protect their belongings.

"Lock your shed or garage every evening, ensuring that you have a reliable and robust lock in place to deter any would-be burglars.

"Mark your prized possessions by using a property or police approved forensic marking solution only visible under Ultraviolet light.

"Ensure side gates are locked to prevent access to the rear of the property.

"Record the details of your property such as serial numbers for electronic goods on the Immobilise website."
