A GERMAN supermarket giant is set to open a brand new store in Southampton this month.

The new Aldi store on Bursledon Road is to swing open its doors to customers on November 26.

The budget store, run by Store Manager Nick Simpkins along with a team of 40 colleagues from the local community, will officially open for business at 8am.

Aldi will bring 25 new job opportunities to the area and will be open all week.

The store will be open from 8am to 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays, and from 10am and 4pm on Sundays.

Aldi Store Manager Nick Simpkins said: “We’re really looking forward to opening the new store here in Southampton. It’s set to be a great day and it’ll be lovely to welcome our new customers into the store and provide them with access to affordable, high-quality food.”

The new store will offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, and a Food to Go section at the front of the store.

Customers will also be able to pick up Aldi's Specialbuys every Thursday and Sunday.

Found in the middle aisle, the Specialbuys offer extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

The new store will have a number of safety measures in place, including sanitisation stations on entry, Perspex screens at its tills and social distancing reminders in store, as well as a traffic light system to control the number of people going in and out of the store.

Local charities and food banks are also being encouraged by the new store to to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, up to five days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.
