A PERSON was given medical treatment after firefighters were called to a blaze at a block of flats in Southampton.
Firefighters responded at 19:34pm last night to reports of the smell of burning in a flat on Canute Road, Southampton.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from St Mary's, Redbridge, Hightown and Eastleigh were mobilised at 19:34 last night to a high-rise building on Canute Road as the smell of burning was reported and the alarm sounding in a flat.
"There was a fire on the cooker which was extinguished using four breathing apparatus and two jets.
"Natural ventilation was used for smoke clearance.
"One person was rescued and given immediate emergency care by firefighters before the arrival of South Central Ambulance Service."
The fire was extinguished at 20:14pm.
