POLICE have launched an arson investigation after firefighters were called to a blazing car in Southampton last night.
Revealing details of the incident Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said it suspected the fire in Staplehurst Close, Weston, was started deliberately.
Police have now confirmed that the blaze is being treated as arson.
A crew from Hightown fire station dealt with the incident, which occurred just after 10.30pm.
Hants Fire Control tweeted: "A car fire in Staplehurst Close dealt with by Hightown. Unfortunately cause doubtful."
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.39pm last night with reports of a car on fire in Staplehurst Close.
"The car is a white Ford Fiesta Zetec.
"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2385 of 17 November."
In September a black BMW was destroyed after bursting into flames at Kendal Avenue, Millbrook, and a blue Mini parked nearby was also damaged. Police said the blaze was being treated as suspicious.
A few days later three vehicles were damaged in a blaze at Roberts Road in Shirley.
