SEVEN men have been re-bailed following a "security incident" aboard an oil tanker off the Isle of Wight last month.
The incident occurred on the Nave Andromeda on October 25.
The seven men, who are all Nigerian nationals, were arrested on suspicion of seizing or exercising control of a ship by use of threats or force.
As reported concerns were raised to police for the welfare of crew on board the Nave Andromeda.
The ship had been due to dock at Southampton Docks, having sailed from Lagos in Nigeria. Military assistance was requested and specialist crews boarded the ship. The incident was over within seven minutes of their intervention.
Today a Hampshire police spokesperson said: "The seven arrested men, who remain detained under Border Force powers, have now been re-bailed until Monday 25 January 2021 in relation to the criminal investigation, whilst investigators continue their enquiries."
