THREE areas in and around Southampton have been identified as coronavirus 'hotspots', according to an interactive map.

Central Southampton East, Bevois Town and West Totton have all been identified as having more than 400 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.

The map, which appears on the government website, uses the latest data from Public Health England.

Central Southamton East, which includes areas around Town Quay, Ocean Village, the Itchen Bridge, and St Mary's, had 58 cases in the seven days leading up to November 15, while Bevois Town and West Totton had 34 and 38 respectively.

That gives Central Southampton East a rolling rate of 408.4 cases per 100,000, Bevois Town 452.2 cases per 100,000, and West Totton 452.1 cases per 100,000.

Meanwhile Maybush, Shirley South, Totton Town, Baister Park & Howard Road, and Netley are the areas around Southampton with the lowest figures per 100,000.

Eastleigh also has a low rate, with only 43 cases per 100,000 people, while Lymington Town & Boldre only has 63,8 cases per 100,000.
