The cycle lanes on Bitterne Road West are empty. Cyclists mostly ride on the pavement. Which is dangerous and frightening for many pedestrians.
If our city is serious about getting people out of cars, then it should make our streets safer for everyone, not just cyclists. Surely it’s time to reclaim the pavements for disabled residents and pedestrians?
Cyclists on Bitterne Road West should be made to use their new cycle lanes. With fines being introduced for cyclists riding on the pavement.
Pedestrians and disabled people matter. Get bikes in the lane. And make our pavements safe.
