Early-bird shoppers were keen to get their hands on some bargains.

Shopper Lynn Doherty said: "I think [the shop's] fantastic. It's the first time we've been to Aldi. They've got a lot more range than other brands. The only thing they haven't got is a bakery."

Fellow bargain-hunter Susan O'Sullivan said: "I'm going to switch from Lidl, [Aldi] is closer to home and it's got a bigger variety."

Daily Echo:

Some shoppers claimed it will become their regular store in the future.

Mike Toogood said: "It's a wonderful shop, the prices are so much cheaper than others and the selection is good. I live close to here and the closest [Aldi] to me before was at St Denys and it wasn't convenient. I'll be doing my weekly shop here from now on."

The store is open from 8am to 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays, and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
