The bars have been removed from equipment at the outdoor gym on Southampton common after users ignored signs.
Southampton City Council made the change last week after gym-users attempted to remove the fencing preventing use of the equipment, which includes pull-up bars.
Outdoor gyms are currently closed as part of the national lockdown as the government aims to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Councillor Steve Leggett, Cabinet Member for Green City and Place said:“The Council has a duty to comply with the current national Covid-19 restrictions, which stipulate that outdoor sports facilities, including outdoor gyms and tennis courts, are to remain closed.
"We have removed the bars in line with this guidance and to help further ensure compliance following recent attempts to remove the fencing we had put in place around the area.”
