AN ELDERLY woman died of natural causes following a fall at the Winchester care home where she lived, an inquest has been told.
Bridget Evelyn Jackson had been a resident at St Catherines View Care Home, in Stanmore Lane, when she suffered a fall on September 25 this year.
An inquest at Winchester Coroner’s Court on Monday was told that the 87-year-old died on October 9.
A post mortem was carried out by consultant pathologist Dr Adnan Al-Badri, who stated that the fall only “minimally contributed” to her death.
He gave the causes of death as pulmonary embolism, along with deep vein thrombosis, ischaemic heart disease, urinary tract infection and fall.
Area coroner Jason Pegg said that evidence from the care home showed that Mrs Jackson, previously a long-time Otterbourne resident, had suffered a number of falls during her time there.
Mr Pegg concluded that Mrs Jackson’s death was due to natural causes, adding: “The fall itself played a minimal part, if any, to the death”.
