THOUSANDS of people braved the elements to see the streets of Lymington transformed into a children's magical fantasy world for a charity event.

The Dreams Come True weekend saw the town's streets turned into scenes from Harry Potter and Narnia with traders dressing up as wizards, witches and even the young magician himself.

The two-day event featured a host of family activities including an ice rink, belly dancing, broom stick making classes, street dancers and live bands as they kept the soaked revellers entertained.

Organisers are hoping the do will raise more than £20,000 for the charity which grants wishes to terminally or seriously ill children across the UK.

Owls and hawks were also on hand as excited youngsters were invited to visit the Sorting Hat in Quay Hill to find which house in the Harry Potter film they belong to.

Philip Pride, fundraising manager for Dreams Come True, said: "It was breathtaking and we are looking forward to it becoming an annual event. Our target is £20,000 and we have already raised £10,000 so far. A huge vote of thanks to the people of Lymington."
