Some of the 10,500 pooches dozed in the New Forest heat while many barked excitedly – waiting for the spotlight moment of glory.
The championship show, which packed in more than 12,000 people, was a great success when it took place on August 11, 1990.
And doting owners had only one thing in mind - the chance for their beloved pedigrees to win a class and go on to hallowed Crufts.
Dog owners swapped tales on the best grooming techniques and pampered their pets in readiness for the judges.
