A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after being rescued from a smoke-filled flat in a Hampshire town.
The elderly woman was woken by firefighters and led to safety after the blaze broke out in a property at Middlebridge Street, Romsey.
Romsey Fire Station tweeted: "Mobilised by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service control.
"On arrival flat filled with smoke. Female woken up by crews and led to safety. Small fire in the airing cupboard, female taken to hospital South Central Ambulance Service."
Hants Fire Control added: "Excellent work by Romsey.
