HAMPSHIRE'S oil refineries could be barricaded this weekend in a repeat of the fuel tax protests that threatened to bring the country to a halt seven years ago.
Campaign group Transaction 2007 has today issued a statement in which it says action will be held from 10am on Saturday.
The organisation - made up of farmers, hauliers and motorists angry at the level of revenue levied on petrol and diesel - is a re-incarnation of the body behind the mass demonstrations of September 2000.
They saw oil refineries across Britain, including those at Fawley and Hamble, blocked by lorries and tractors, which quickly led to shortages at filling stations.
In its statement, Transaction insisted its protests would be by legal means, but are being held at the weekend to ensure the maximum number of people could turn out.
"This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you," the group said.
