US pop star Rihanna has cancelled her show on the south coast tomorrow night.

The teenage singer, who had a number one hit in the summer with Umberella, was due to appear at the Bournemouth International Centre, has pulled out on the advice of her doctor.

A spokesman for the BIC said they hoped the sell-out concert would be rescheduled.

Original tickets would be valid for the new date whenever it is fixed.

It is the third show in a row that the 19-year-old singer has had to cancel. Performances at Birmingham and Nottingham over the weekend were postponed.

A spokesman for the star said: "As per Rihanna's doctor's instructions, Rihanna will be unable to perform in Bournemouth tomorrow night.

"Rihanna plans to reschedule this date as soon as possible.

"She appreciates the love and support of all her fans and wants nothing more than to see and connect with them. We apologise for any inconvenience."

It's the second high profile concert to be scrapped at the BIC in as many weeks. Controversial singer Amy Winehouse pull the plug on her sell out date at the venue on November 27.
