THE UK only accounts for 1% of global CO2 emissions, so whatever we do will have no effect at all on the climate.
Meanwhile, despite Covid-19, this year China has continued to build new coal power stations, increasing its generating capacity by 3% in the last two years.
This rise in China's emissions of carbon dioxide has exceeded our total emissions.
Life was much simpler in olden times.
Then all you had to do to appease the climate gods was sacrifice a few virgins.
Today we have to destroy freedom and economies.
And it has as much effect as sacrificing virgins.
With projected costs of Covid-19 after effects and zero carbon emissions running into billions of pounds, one will have to be rejected.
For all our sakes the latter would make more sense.
