MORE than 120 jobs have been saved after a closing hair salon brand has been given a new lease of life.

His & Kids, a hair salon based in the south that specialises in cuts for children, went into liquidation in September following the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The salon announced it would be closing in premises Festival Place in Basingstoke "from immediate effect".

The company, which has also branches in Chandlers Ford, Fareham and Romsey, said: “Due to the significant impact of Covid-19 on the business and ongoing future uncertainty, HJK limited appointed liquidators on Friday 11 September 2020.

"As a direct result the Basingstoke salon has ceased trading from Saturday 12 September.”

But now, the salons have been given a new lease of life.

TOCA Salon Group has announced that the His & Kids Festival Place branch has been saved.

the three remaining sites having been acquired by the TOCA Salon Group, with ambitions to add another 36 salons across the south coast in 2021.

TOCA Salon Group Director, Darren Jacobs, said this: "The decision to bring His & Kids into the TOCA Salon Group was about much more than buying a business, His & Kids is a concept that like many in the area, we completely bought into.

"I remember taking my two boys for their first cut at His&Kids, so the chance to bring the brand into the group was one we couldn't turn down."

His&Kids joins TOCA Salon Group at an "exciting" time, having acquired an astounding 18 salons across the South Coast, in just six months.
