A SOUTHAMPTON man died after jumping from the Itchen Bridge, an inquest opening heard.
Aled Roberts was recovered from the River Itchen on December 8, this year, and taken to Southampton General Hospital.
Winchester Coroner’s Court heard that the Tunstall Road resident was treated but he pronounced dead the same day.
Opening the inquest, area coroner Jason Pegg said that the 44-year-old was witnessed jumping from the Itchen Bridge.
A post mortem conducted pathologist Dr Sanjay Jogai found that Mr Roberts died of cardiac arrest following the fall from height.
Mr Pegg adjourned the hearing and full inquest will take place on September 2, 2021.
