A MAN has suffered head injuries after he was attacked and robbed in Southampton.

The incident took place some time between 3.30pm and 4pm on Christmas Eve.

A man in his 40s was walking home from the shops on a footpath at the top of Rockstone Lane, near to the YMCA.

Three men approached the man and attacked him, before stealing his mobile phone.

The trio are then said to have ran off past the YMCA.

The victim suffered head injuries and a cut above his eyebrow.

Police are now appealing to witnesses to the robbery.

The first man is described as being white, around 30-years-old and approximately 5ft 6ins tall.

He was wearing a black jacket, dark jeans and a dark coloured face covering.

The second man is descried as being white, around 30 years old, approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing a black jacked and a dark coloured face covering.

The third man is described as being white, around 30 years old and approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing a camouflage jacket and dark trousers.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you witness anything? Do you recognise any of the descriptions of the men involved?

"Perhaps you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage?
