MORE than 1,000 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Hampshire in the last 24 hours. 

Public Health England figures - as recorded on the Government website at 4.50pm today (December 29) - show that 1,110 more people have tested positive for the virus in a 24 hour period.

The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.

Below are the confirmed cases by local authority in the 24 hours to 4.50pm on December 29:

  • Basingstoke and Deane: 105 (3,642 in total since start of pandemic)
  • East Hampshire: 33 (2,317)
  • Eastleigh: 50 (2,341)
  • Fareham: 67 (2,237)
  • Gosport: 10 (1,457)
  • Hart: 68 (1,771)
  • Havant: 115 (3,385)
  • New Forest: 71 (2,597)
  • Portsmouth: 176 (7,043)
  • Rushmoor: 96 (2,972)
  • Southampton: 170 (5,907)
  • Test Valley: 46 (2,193)
  • Winchester: 84 (2,521)
