POLICE are searching for a man in relation to a distraction burglary in Southampton.

The incident took place between 1pm and 3.30pm on November 16.

The victim, an 82-year-old woman, was at her home in Inkerman Road.

A man, unknown to her, is said to have walked into her house and sat on the sofa.

He allegedly offered to sell her some meat, which she declined, before the man left again.

A short time later, the woman realised her phone and debit card had gone missing from next to the sofa.

The card was later used to purchase goods from several stores and to pay for bus fares.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection to the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers are appealing to anyone who may recognise the man in the CCTV image.

"We know he is wearing a face covering however he is also wearing a distinctive hat which someone might recognise.

"If you saw this man in the area or know who he is, please call 101 quoting 44200443834.
